As most of you unfortunately know, roughly nine out of ten movie licensed games end up being completely underproduced garbage; to the point that when a movie licensed game is even remotely fun 6 or 7 out of 10 game (Mad Max as a personal example), it gets high praise simply because expectations for developers to pull through on a project like that are so low.
But when did this occur? There used to be a time when movie licensed games were fantastic and something that people looked forward to (such as the Semi-Open World and Platforming Puzzles of the first two Harry Potter games, or Star Wars Jedi Knight Academy)
Are there particular developers to blame? Publishing companies? Or is it just the unfortunate decline of standards? What are all of your thoughts?
