Carbink, long assumed to be a pre-evolution of Diancie (even in the lore having a direct connection to Diancie) was unfortunately shafted and largely ignored as a Pokemon; this is quite sad due to the fact that Carbink's viability could have gone up. Why you may ask? Carbink's already incredibly 150 / 150 defense would be boosted by 1.5x thanks to Eviolite. With a fully boosted + nature, both of its defenses could with Eviolite reach a whopping 657. Sadly though, despite this massive purported increase, it wouldn't impact Carbink too greatly for a multitude of reasons. At most, Carbink would be banned from NU. More than likely he'll just become a mid-top tier NU threat or a low tier RU threat. This is because Carbink has no offensive presence and a decidedly low base 50 HP. Not to mention that it has one of the more lackluster movepools ever put on a mostly unique Pokemon typing. Along with this, low base speed means it won't be setting up or doing much more than an assured Stealth Rocks layer. If Carbink had access to more hazard moves, or a form of Recovery that isn't Rest Talk, it could have been a top tier RU or even low grade UU threat, but sadly with everything working against it, not even even further boosted defenses can help Carbink.
