We all know why Pidgeot is relevant again; its Mega form was an absolute blessing that completely reversed its role as a Pokemon. 135 Special Attack, 121 Speed and slightly boosted defenses are just the tip of the iceberg; Pidgeot was granted arguably the best fitting ability in the game for it, No Guard. No Guard means that any moves will hit Pidgeot, and any of Pidgeot's moves will hit the opponent, 100% of the time. This has already been proven to be amazing with a 100% accurate STAB Hurricane and a 100% accurate Heat Wave; but what if we upped this even more with access to Focus Blast, which would effectively be a 120 base power Aura Sphere thanks to never being able to miss?
In short, it would cement Pidgeot's place in OU as a mid to top tier sweeper. It would switch from being countered by Heatran (the current top used Pokemon in OU) to being a hard check TO Heatran all in one fell swoop. Not to mention it would grant it a hard hitting super effective move against OU Pokemon like Chansey, Kyurem-B, Mega Lopunny and would allow it to nail Tyranitar for 4x SE damage as well. It would also be able to hit a multitude of Pokemon for more damage than Heat Wave could such as; Bisharp (now 4x + the added Base Power of Focus Blast), Excadrill, Magnezone, and Weavile (4X + BP of Focus Blast). It would also allow it to hit Pokemon neutrally for a solid amount of damage (thanks to base 135 Special Attack) that it would have no chance of hitting anywhere near that hard otherwise beforehand because of not having a move that hits it for anything other than not very effective damage. These Pokemon that Mega Pidgeot could now touch would be: Mega Diancie and the main one, Rotom-W. Thanks to M-Pidgeot's massive speed and Focus Blast, Rotom-W wouldn't be able to just out of the blue switch into Mega-Pidgeot anymore.
Along with this, M-Pidgeot's variety would be increased; Sub/Roost sets would be viable, Sub/Three attack sets would be viable, and in general it would just add to M-Pidgeot's unpredictability and cause more teams to attempt to account for its new momentum.
What do you think? Would Mega-Pidgeot benefit from having access to Focus Blast? How far do you think it would climb?
