Minun
Type: Electric
Abilities: Minus / Volt Absorb
Stats:
HP: 60
Attack: 40
Defense: 50
Special Attack: 75
Special Defense: 85
Speed: 95
Description: Minun is an unfortunately ignored Pokemon and at the surface it would seem to be for a good reason; lackluster stats (with the highest being an acceptable 95 base speed) really let Minun down in a lot of situations. However there's far more to Minun than meets the eye, especially with the addition of its new ability Volt Absorb which allows it to, with proper prediction, halt enemy momentum. Not only this, but thanks to access to Nasty Plot and a plethora of other support moves, Minun can perform a surprising amount of roles. If you play around his lower than average stats, you can leave a nasty surprise for your opponent.
Set #1: Nasty Plot Life Orb
EVs: 4 HP, 252 SpA, 252 Spe
Nature: Timid (+ Spe, - Atk)
Item: Life Orb
Ability: Volt Absorb
Moves:
Nasty Plot
Thunderbolt
Grass Knot
Signal Beam / Hidden Power Ice / Hidden Power Fire
Set Description: This set is simple; boost, then fire off semi-powerful STAB Thunderbolts. Grass Knot is for pesky Ground and Rock types that will come to ruin your day and is an ever popular solution for something such as Quagsire, Swampert or Seismitoad. Last slot is dependent on your individual coverage needs.
Set #2: Utility Crippler
EVs: 252 HP, 4 SpA, 252 Spe
Nature: Timid (+ Spe, - Atk)
Item: Flame Orb
Ability: Volt Absorb
Moves:
Switcheroo
Nuzzle
Volt Switch
Protect / Light Screen / Substitute / Encore
Set Description: This is a rather interesting set that capitalizes on the surprise factor of Switcheroo. Generally your opponent will send in a Pokemon with higher Physical attack to deal with Minun, and passing on Flame Orb will cripple that attacker for the match. For the rest of your opponents, Nuzzle is a taunt-proof way to instantly paralyze the rest of your opponent's team. Third slot is dedicated to Volt Switch to maintain momentum, and the fourth slot is basically filler for individual needs.
Other Options: There aren't too many other options on Minun as his movepool bar these wonderful support options is unfortunately limited. You could always make a set using Baton Pass and Nasty Plot to pass boosts and utilize Encore to assure boosts get passed or to lock an opponent in. There's also a niche option in using a Focus Sash / Counter set but besides having a surprise factor, it's not too viable.
